Restoration of Shepley Methodist Churchyard
A restoration project at Shepley Methodist graveyard was completed in February 2011 with help from a LEADER grant of £7,600. The graveyard was overgrown with paths undulating with potholes and debris. A number of tree stumps were removed and a significant amount of broken stone was also taken away.
Fencing at one end of the graveyard was replaced. A seating area will be provided and new planting has taken place, the results of which will be seen in the Spring.
The graveyard is the final resting place of the Reverend Ben Chambers who was involved in the founding of both Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs.
