East Peak Faith Site Heritage Interpretation Project
The historic value of churches and chapels across the East Peak LEADER area together with their potential as heritage attractions will be highlighted thanks to a new LEADER funded project. In January 2010, Heritage Inspired will begin to deliver a two year programme of support to faith heritage sites.
Heritage Inspired is a voluntary organization whose main aim is to increase access to and awareness of faith buildings as heritage attractions. The organization works with faith sites to attract tourists, school groups and local people to learn about the history and heritage of these buildings and their local communities. Open days, events, exhibitions, the production of interpretative leaflets and promotion via the internet will all be part of the project. In addition, training for local volunteers will also be provided as well as offering the opportunity to volunteer with Heritage Inspired itself.
