Village & Community Halls Renewal and Development
The East Peak LEADER programme’s Village and Community Halls Renewal and Development initiative, launched in 2009, has already generated a great deal of interest.
The programme aims to support small-scale renovation, refurbishment or extension of existing village and community halls which serve as a focal point for local activities throughout the year. In order to be eligible halls must be committed to running a mixed programme of activities which attracts visitors from other parts of the East Peak area and from outside of the East Peak area and must be able to participate in an East Peak wide programme of promotion of cultural and heritage activities which take place at village and community halls.
So far, the East Peak Innovation Partnership Board has agreed to support up to nine village and community hall projects (three in each of the three Local Innovation Group areas). To date, funds from the East Peak LEADER programme have been earmarked for projects at:
Lomas Hall in Stannington, Bolsterstone Village Hall and Grenoside Reading Room in North Sheffield
and
Birdsedge Village Hall, Savoy Youth and Community Centre in Skelmanthorpe and Shelley Village Hall
and
Dunford Parish Community Centre
