A Local Innovation Group (LIG) operates in each area of EPIP, Penistone & District, Denby Dale & Kirkburton and North Sheffield. The groups currently meet approximately every six weeks. The remit of each LIG is to encourage involvement from the private sector, public sector and voluntary and community sectors, thereby enabling grassroots involvement and participation.
LIG members are encouraged to attend each meeting but, if this is not possible, they have the option to join an email distribution list to receive details of and comment on project ideas submitted for review.
To join the LIG for your area you must first sign up to become a member. Visit our downloads page to download a membership form. This form asks members to specify which sector they represent, i.e., public, private or voluntary & community sector and whether they are applying as an individual or as a representative of an organisation.
At each meeting, members of the LIG will have the opportunity to comment upon any of the project ideas submitted. As the project ideas can be submitted from anywhere within the East Peak boundary, the meeting is also a good opportunity for members to share local knowledge to ensure an area-wide approach to each project.
Comments from each of the LIGs are then fed through to the EPIP board who will then make the final decision as to whether the project will be invited to submit a stage two proposal. Board members are made up of annually nominated LIG members (one representative from each sector per LIG).
